Supporting and Expanding Green Programming in Guelph
Ceramic Decor, like other residents and businesses in Guelph, is dedicated to the community we live and work in. We commend those who dedicate their time to focus on the environmental stewardship of this city. It is for this reason we are pleased to support initiatives and programs like the Yorklands Green Hub.
Located on the provincially owned former Guelph Correctional Centre that closed in 1972 , the vision of Yorklands Green Hub has been to “create a public sustainable environments centre” that “will bring together businesses, organizations and people…to learn, work, share and innovate, with the common purpose of being engaged stewards of our land, food, water, cultural heritage and overall wellbeing.”

A Note of Thanks from Yorklands Green Hub
“Many thanks to Ceramic Décor for being a Yorklands Community Leader by supporting our mission to establish a sustainable environments centre at this provincially owned site on York Rd. In 2019 you supported our Noticing Nature program and now in 2020 with Covid challenges, you are supporting us as we move ahead with Covid safe programming for everyone to continue enjoying the beautiful outdoors at this heritage public landmark site.
This [the former Ontario Reformatory site at 785 York Road in Guelph] wonderful bit of countryside in our city is a great place to enjoy nature while getting some fresh air and exercise away from traffic and sidewalks. The front part of the property was designed in 1910 in keeping with the City Beautiful Movement of its day. The buildings at the back were for incarceration of young men while the hundreds of acres fronting on York Rd were designed for public enjoyment of walking, picnics, fishing and noticing nature. Our non-profit organization plans to continue these activities at this site along with others related to protected and public green space.”
