What does PEI rating refer to?

PEI rating is an internationally recognized scale from 1 to 5 for wear resistance, with 5 being the most resilient. Heavier traffic areas, such as kitchens ideally should have a rating of 4 or 5. Tile of PEI rating of 3 or less should only be considered for wall applications.
